A mother humpback rises gently to the surface, her calf close by. Time to Breathe captures that intimate pause between journeys — a moment of connection, trust, and renewal beneath the vast blue.
Humpback whales are known for their haunting songs and long migrations, traveling thousands of miles each year between feeding and breeding grounds. Once nearly wiped out by commercial whaling, their recovery has been one of conservation’s most hopeful stories. Yet, they still face threats from ship strikes, entanglement, and ocean noise that disrupts their communication.
Painted in watercolor on 300gsm 100% cotton rag paper, this piece reflects both the grace and vulnerability of these gentle giants. Layers of blues and subtle movement in the washes evoke the rhythm of the sea — calm yet powerful, eternal yet fleeting.
Every original helps fund marine conservation through my 1% for the Planet commitment, supporting organizations dedicated to protecting whales and the ecosystems they depend on.
