The lion’s gaze holds both strength and sorrow — a quiet awareness of what’s been lost and what still endures. Soul of a King captures that moment of connection, where power meets vulnerability and the wild looks back at us.
Once roaming across Africa and parts of Asia and Europe, lions have lost over 90% of their historic range. Habitat loss, human conflict, and illegal hunting have pushed them to the brink in many regions. Yet, their presence remains a symbol of courage, balance, and leadership within the natural world.
This piece is part of my Windows Collection, where the focus is drawn to the eyes — an invitation to see these animals not as distant icons, but as sentient beings whose fate is intertwined with our own. Painted in watercolor on 300gsm 100% cotton rag paper, every detail was built with patience and intent to reveal the lion’s quiet soul.
Every original helps fund conservation through my 1% for the Planet commitment, supporting efforts to protect threatened species like the African lion.
