Elder of the Ridge honors a mature bull elk—an animal shaped by seasons, battles, and survival. His antlers tell a long story: years of growth, dominance earned, and resilience tested. This piece was inspired by a reference photograph by wildlife photographer Bryan Carnathan, whose image captured not just scale, but presence—the unmistakable gravity of an elder animal holding his ground.
Elk play a critical role in healthy ecosystems, shaping vegetation and supporting biodiversity across the landscapes they roam. Yet habitat fragmentation, human pressure, and climate change continue to challenge their future. Protecting large, intact wild spaces is essential—not just for elk, but for the countless species that depend on those ecosystems.
This painting is a reminder of what is at stake. A symbol of endurance. Of wilderness that still stands—if we choose to protect it.
Every purchase helps support wildlife and environmental conservation efforts. When you bring Elder of the Ridge into your home, you’re not just collecting art—you’re standing up for the wild places and animals that inspire it.
