What Remains: A Red Wolf and the Disappearing Wild

There’s a quiet tension in this piece—a red wolf stepping forward, emerging from what remains of its forest home.

Once widespread across the southeastern United States, the red wolf is now one of the most endangered canids in the world. Habitat loss and human pressure have reduced not just their numbers, but the landscapes they depend on.

In What Remains, the forest is intentionally soft and fading—suggesting both presence and absence. The wolf moves forward, grounded and aware, carrying the weight of what has been lost.

Fewer than a few dozen red wolves remain in the wild today.

Once native to much of the southeastern United States, habitat loss and human impact have pushed this species to the brink of extinction.

This piece reflects that fragile balance—the forest behind the wolf is present, but fading. A quiet reminder of what remains, and what could still be lost.

Paper Print Framed

Paper prints can be framed without a mat in sizes 11"x14" through 40"x50". We offer four standard colors: white, black, light wood and espresso. If you're looking for another color, please let us know and we can see if we can accommodate. Frames add approximately 1.75"to the overall dimensions of the artwork.

Paper Print w/ Mat Framed

Paper prints framed with a mat provides a finished look to your artwork. Mat-boards are white and come with a 45 degree bevel. Mat widths vary depending on the size of the print and will be added to the overall dimensions, in addition to the 1.75" for the frame. Size options and final dimensions of the artwork are as follows:

  • 11"×14" w/ 2” mat (Approx. 16.75" x 19.75" total)
  • 16"x20" w/ 2.5” mat (Approx. 22.75" x 26.75" total)
  • 18"x24" w/ 3” mat (Approx. 25.75" x 31.75" total)
  • 24"x30" w/ 3" mat (Approx. 31.75" x 37.75" total)
  • 30"x40" w/ 3.5” mat (Approx. 38.75" x 48.75" total)

STRETCHED CANVAS

  • Printed on thick archival grade canvas with eco-solvent inks

STRETCHED CANVAS FRAMED

Framed gallery wrapped canvases feature a thick, archival-grade polycotton-mix canvas that is carefully hand-stretched over solid wood stretcher bars, then attached to a wood floater frame.The depth of the frames is 1.5" and the face is .625".
