At first glance, this polar bear stands in stillness—powerful, solitary, untouchable. The water beneath her offers a near-perfect mirror, doubling her presence and her weight in the world.

But here’s the truth: she was photographed in captivity.

You wouldn’t know it. There are no bars. No fences. Just a bear and her reflection. And that’s what stopped me.

Captive Reflections explores the quiet tension between what we see and what is real. Polar bears have become symbols of climate change, but many also live confined lives in zoos and wildlife parks—ambassadors for a species struggling in the wild. This piece asks a harder question: What does survival look like? And at what cost?

When you bring Captive Reflections into your home, you’re not just adding a striking work of art—you’re standing in support of Arctic conservation and the protection of wild places where bears truly belong.

This is a piece for those who care about the full story.
For those willing to look twice.
For those who believe wildlife deserves more than survival—it deserves freedom.

Bring her home. Let her reflection remind you what’s at stake.

Conservation Corner: Polar bears are classified as Vulnerable, with sea ice loss from climate change posing the greatest threat to their survival. They rely on sea ice to hunt seals—their primary food source. As the Arctic warms, that ice forms later and melts earlier each year.

While some polar bears live in accredited zoos as educational ambassadors, true conservation means protecting the Arctic ecosystem itself. Safeguarding sea ice, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting science-based wildlife policy are critical to ensuring polar bears remain wild—not just symbolic.

A portion of proceeds from this piece supports wildlife and environmental conservation efforts dedicated to protecting species like the polar bear and the fragile habitats they depend on.

Because reflections are powerful.
But preservation is essential.
